A father of two says he fears for his safety after he was falsely accused on Facebook of being Jon Venables.

By 8am today more than 2,370 people had joined a group on the site asking whether Venables was David Calvert.

The group was removed after complaints to Facebook, but the rumours persist on other sites such as Yahoo Answers, with people claiming to have learned his identity via text messages.

The coroner at an inquest into the death of four British soldiers in a blast in Afghanistan has pointed to "inadequacies" in training.

In his summing-up, Wiltshire and Swindon coroner David Masters said there were issues with how soldiers were trained to deal with bombs.

Cpl Sarah Bryant and SAS reservists Cpl Sean Reeve, L/Cpl Richard Larkin and Pte Paul Stout died in 2008.

Cpl Bryant is the only British female soldier to have died in Afghanistan.

The four were killed in 2008 in a Snatch Land Rover, a light vehicle in which at least 37 UK soldiers have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Justice vote carried in assembly

Justice vote carried in assembly

Stormont

Members of the assembly have voted in support of a motion to devolve policing and justice powers to Northern Ireland.

As expected the Ulster Unionist Party did not support the move, however, the motion received the necessary cross-community consent to be passed.

Policing and justice powers will now be devolved on 12 April.

Disagreement on the timing of the devolution of the justice powers had threatened to collapse Northern Ireland's power-sharing administration.

'Insurance for all' plan for dogs

'Insurance for all' plan for dogs

All dog owners in England and Wales would have to insure against their pet attacking someone under Labour proposals to tackle dangerous breeds.

Police and local authorities could also be given powers to force owners of dangerous dogs to muzzle them or even get them neutered.

Ministers say the consultation responds to concerns about the use of animals to intimidate or threaten people.

But the Tories say Labour has allowed the problem to grow in recent years.

Each week, more than 100 people are admitted to hospital after dog attacks.

There has also been a reported rise in levels of dog fighting and illegal ownership, particularly by gangs who are using dangerous dogs as status symbols.

Jon Venables was given a new identity on his release from prison

Jon Venables could be murdered by vigilantes if his new identity is revealed, the judge who originally granted his anonymity has warned.

Baroness Butler-Sloss originally made the decision when James Bulger's two killers were released in 2001.

"Those who wanted to kill him in 2001 are likely to be out there now," she said in the House of Lords.

Justice Secretary Jack Straw said earlier that the reason why Venables is back in prison will not be revealed.

He said divulging the reason why Jon Venables was returned to prison was not in the "interests of justice".
